Many of the stories that we know such as Little Red Riding Hood have been changed by the hand that wrote them down (usually by men, as women had no write to publish). Do you know the oral versions of the stories, that were likely told by women to their communities around fires whilst spinning, weaving kneading bread?

Join me for the Samodivi, the Wild Women of the Woodlands - a Bulgarian old story of the women who live in the forests and bathe in the rivers - ancient healers and dancing goddesses. They do not keep houses, they do not rear children. A story with complexity, wonder, injustice, and fierceness.

Does Little Red Riding Hood wear a red cloak? Join me to listen to a French coming of age story (represented by the colour red) where a girl does not need to be rescued by a hunter as she is more than capable of that herself. A story that explores the life of a woman from puberty to menopause through symbolism and hidden wisdom in plain sight.

Tatterhood is a wild twin story from Norway. A girl who defies all rules and expectations, a feral woman who does not do what she is told, but does as she pleases! She is an inspiration for at least some parts of us!

Stories are as old as humanity itself. These tales are hundreds of years old, passed through mouth to ear and they still have much to teach us.

Join me to celebrate the voices of women, to come together as we continue to wish for equality, to gather in community as we hope for freedom, for our choices that support our bodies and lives.

All genders are welcome. All events held by Nana are LGBTQI+ inclusive.

Age 12+ recommended.

The event will be live only and will NOT be recorded.

50% of all proceeds will go to Women for Women International who “invest in women survivors of war and conflict, providing them with social and economic skills to transform their own lives. Women pass their knowledge to those around them, creating a more just world—a world where every woman’s voice, role, and contribution are visible and valued.”
