A circular 6 hour gentle walk (approx) in the magical parts of Stanmer Park, near Brighton.
- Learn about foraging wild foods and plants
- Listen to oral traditional stories, about plants and the wild
- Taste pre-pared delicious wild foods as you learn about the plants you eat.
- Learn about plant folklore
- Immerse all your senses in this exciting and restorative day walk
We will take you on a foraging journey that reveals the secret potential in even the most familiar of wild plants, the very plants you walk by every day. As you walk by trees and shrubs, plants and flowers, you will hear stories about them, passed orally for generations.
The humble bramble or blackberry will be revealed to be, on the contrary, a majestic beast of endless possibilities, stinging nettles will reveal secrets, you will taste nature, as you listen to her stories as you sit in the skirts of her forests.

About us:
Nana is an internationally acclaimed Traditional Oral Storyteller and a Nature Connection Guide. She loves stories of the wild, and her favourite place to tell them is out on the land, during her famous Story Walks. She is the creator of the Story Apothecary Podcast, where she dispenses stories as medicine. Nana has performed in the Brighton Fringe, her story walks have been featured in the Guardian, Coast magazine and Country Homes magazine. Fergus Drennan (Fergus the Forager)
Fergus is a wild food experimentalist and educator with a 30-year wealth of experiential knowledge, who runs regular full day total immersion foraging courses for the general public and privately.
He has written regularly on wild food and foraging for BBC Countryfile Magazine, The Ecologist, Country Kitchen, Bushcraft and Survival Skills Magazine, as well as contributing and/or featuring in many other magazines including most national newspapers.
Practical Bits:
All wild food on the walk will be vegetarian. We regret we cannot cater for food preferences/intolerances, however there will be a plethora of choice to taste from.
No foraging will take place on the walk, however you will have the chance to learn about how, what and when to forage.
Please bring some food for lunch or to snack on.
The walk will be gentle, and we will walk for approximately 5 km or 3miles, with plenty of sitting down.

Toilets - There are some public toilets at our meeting point. Along the way there a plenty of hedges/trees for some privacy. Please ensure that you leave no trace.
